USA INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION

AFC Radio is a project of the Artistic Freedom Collective, a group of artists from throughout the world who support and promote each other. All genres are accepted for consideration for the contest, but mostly seeking singer-songwriter, folk, blues, country, jazz, and acoustic artists. Winners will receive: "Artist of the Month" status for May on AFCollective.com and a dedicated 40 minute program which will include biographical info, music play, and discussion of the artist's original music (played a minimum of 4 times during the month), among other prizes. Submission deadline: April 15.

MooZone.com is creating a Best of Indies compilation CD to be delivered to college radio stations around the country, as well as in Canada, Ireland, and England. The proposed release date of the compilation CD is September of 2009, in conjunction with the start of many new school semesters. This will be the third release of a successful music compilation by MooZone.com. Open to the following genres: americana, alternative country, pop, alternative rock, jazz, soul, and blues. If your song is selected, you will be required to set up an artist profile and offer your music for sale on MooZone.com. Submit through Sonicbids, deadline: June 1.

The Human Levee Music Project is a Song Competition for amateur and professional songwriters who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces (active-duty and active-drill status members are ineligible to enter). The goal of the Music Project is to bring songwriters and New Orleans musicians together to create an edgy, potent, and relevant music Compilation. This is a not-for-profit effort intended to benefit grassroots organizations in New Orleans which are actively engaged in helping citizens there recover from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. Submission deadline: May 31.

We Are Listening launches its 23rd Singer/Songwriter Awards, the company’s flagship international song contest for independent performing artists, songwriters, and lyricists. This year, We Are Listening is offering a greater variety of career-oriented prizes, divided into six music industry sectors: Songwriting, Licensing, Marketing, Production, Post-Production, and Retail Distribution. A total of six winners in 2009 will have a choice of a grand prize from one of the six sectors, including a week-long songwriting retreat in Stockholm, Sweden; network-sized television placement in the US; college radio promotion and administration; a production weekend in London, England; mixing and mastering services; and CD replication and digital distribution.
